Trans-Labrador Highway – Grooved and Sanded

The Trans-Labrador Highway is a gravel road which in winter is covered with ice and packed snow. To provide traction for vehicles, plows cut parallel grooves in the leveled ice surface and dump trucks apply sand onto the road.
