Tattered Tiger Swallowtail

Butterflies have an amazing life. We all celebrate the life cycle of the beautiful butterfly coming from the icky caterpiller, but how often do we think about how delicious these insects must be to the birds who feed on them. This swallowtail appears to have had a close encounter and left parts of his wings behind. No dinner for the bird, but a second chance for this butterfly to delight us all!
