There is a majesty in mature trees, and there is a regal fragility in trees long since dead but still maintaining in their place in the forest. These particular trees stand in dense timber, protected from wind and stormy weather by their near neighbours, and, as in the best of communities, they are supported upright by their neighbours as well.
